Weaving Neutrals in October
In October we’re making a 7 by 14-inch (finished size) Woven Bars block in two variations (to carry on the woven look in a straight set) I made these two blocks.

Color Guidelines
This month we will combine neutral grays and browns with gold or orange on a white background. This is a similar color palette to our January blocks, substituting gold or orange for the purple. I think it’s interesting to see the difference between adding a warm or a cool color to a neutral palette.
The BACKGROUND fabric is WHITE. It can be solid or a white-on-white (WOW) print.
Add to this three BAR fabrics, described below, in any placement you choose.
GRAY – it may be solid, a tone-on-tone (TOT) print, a gray print which includes black and/or white, or a small scale, dense black and white print that reads as gray.
BROWN – it may be solid or a tone-on-tone (TOT) print, a brown print that includes black and/or white. Value-wise it can be anything from tan to dark chocolate.
GOLD/ORANGE – It may be a solid or a tone-on-tone (TOT) print or a print containing gold AND orange. It shouldn’t contain any other color. The orange may be used for any of the bars in the block.
You make multiple blocks, you can use the same WHITE BACKGROUND fabric in multiple blocks and can repeat any of the BAR fabrics as long as each block is unique. (No twins!)
Virtual Quilt
The sample of blocks in the virtual Woven Bars quilt are made by Angie, Jude, Laurie, Margaret, Peggy, Toni and me. Don’t forget that even if you have emailed me photos of your blocks and they appear here, you must post them in order to added to the list for the drawing at the end of September.
You can see the full-size photos of these block photos in my Flickr photo set Woven Bars Quilt Blocks.
Thank you to everyone who made and photographed their blocks to make this virtual quilt possible.
