My 2016 block lotto challenge – from blocks to tops
I’ve been a block lotto player since near the beginning. During this time I have won lots of blocks but have not managed to make quilts of them. Apparently I love making blocks but not so much quilts ;-). This year will be the beginning of the end of that nonsense. I am challenging myself to post a finished block lotto top every month this year and two completed quilts by year end. I generally do better when I put a challenge “out there” instead of just saying it to myself so we’ll see how it goes!!
I’m starting out with this top of 2009 block lotto blocks. In 2009 I made three extra of each month’s blocks.
Hopefully, February’s post will be a top from the November, 2013 – Banded Basket blocks.

What a great way to challenge yourself. I can’t wait to see a beautiful flimsy each month! 🙂 Good luck!
Great quilt and to think you made it by just making three extra blocks each month. The yellow sashing and blue cornerstones magically unify all those distinctive blocks. Can’t wait to see the baskets, one of my favorite blocks.
I have more than a few Block Lotto UFOs myself … maybe we can inspire one another. I love the first finish.
What a great sampler!
Looking forward to seeing your creations this year. I know I have posted to you several times over the years so will be seeing some of my blocks again. I have made at least 7 quilts from my block lotto winnings but have several more still waiting to be put together.
PS I forgot to mention that I have many of your blocks in my quilts also.
This is a wonderful quilt top! It’s so fun to see those previous Block Lotto blocks and how others made them for their own quilt.
Boy do those blocks look familiar – I also made a set (just one of each) that year to keep. Yours look great, and very inspiring to the rest of us to use those blocks!
Love it… You go Girl! (Now if I could just motivate me)
