Blue Broken Dishes (Star) in March
2-color quilts are considered by many to be enduring classics.
We’ll be making 8 inch Broken Dishes (star) blocks combining a lighter and darker blue fabric with white.
Barbara P made this block.
I cannot believe that one month later, I have to explain once again that I can’t seem to get well again after having the flue last month so, once again, this post will be brief–providing you with the essentials and updated as I can later.
Block Pattern
I will post the official block pattern later–I have a bonus idea that I really like and hope you will as well. In the meantime, here is the link to the sneak peek with the guidelines and directions and my tips for making half-square triangle (HST) units.
You may make a maximum of 9 blocks for chances in the drawing at the end of the month. The target set size for the winners will be 48 blocks.
If you make multiple blocks for the Block Lotto, you can use the same white background in multiple blocks and you can repeat the blue fabrics, too, as long as each combination of blue fabrics is unique.
Tags and Categories
Add the tag dishes to all your blog posts about this block.
The category should be blocks when you are posting photos of your blocks to enter them in the drawing; use the category sent and received when you are posting about mailing or receiving blocks; and the category show and tell to share projects you make from this block (whether they are lotto blocks or blocks you make for yourself.)
The Virtual Quilt
I have not yet had a chance to make any blocks, but others have … thank you to the Sneak Peekers who shared photos of their blocks for this virtual quilt: Barb, Ginny, Karen N, Kathleen, Marianne, Michelle, Nann, Peggy and Robin.
Wow, the virtual quilt looks terrific!
I agree, even with all the differences in lighting … I know that they will be even better in person.
