Strip quilt finished at last
I don’t remember when I won these strip blocks but each block is 6.5 inches and had to include one “made strip” in the block. Can you find your block? I used them all and had to make four extra to get to my needed number. I wanted a larger quilt so I made 6.5 inch blocks of yellow and white to go in between the strip blocks. While laying the blocks out on the design wall at Elizabeth’s house, Elizabeth’s sharp eye noted that if I just rotated the yellow and white blocks carefully, half of the strip blocks would be surrounded by white and half of them by yellow. So cool! Putting the blocks on point also added movement, interest and as an additional bonus, made the quilt larger. The final measurement is 76 inches by 76 inches. It will be for my new grand daughter Emily, due the end of June. I wish I had a better way to display these for photographing them…hanging from a nice outdoor balcony on a sunny day, would be great!
This will give her something to learn colors by when she gets older. Thanks for showing us.
Even lying flat, I can see how beautiful the finish is! Congratulations on the new little girl coming in.
It turned out so nicely! The hourglass spacer blocks add interest.
This is such a happy quilt. I think I see blocks that look like something I would have made. I love being a part of it!
