You’ll be Seeing RED in August
In August, we are making another long rectangle block that I’m calling Many Triangles from scrappy reds mixed with cream or low volume print fabrics. These blocks are 5 by 18 1/2 inches (to finish at 4 1/2 by 18 inches).
Ginny made this one.
The fabric guidelines and my directions for making this block can be found here:
Many Triangles Quilt Block Pattern
The pattern includes directions for making your own templates, but you can also download and print them (generated from EQ7) here:
You may make a maximum of 9 blocks for chances in the drawing at the end of the month. The target set size for the winners will be 48 blocks.
If you make multiple block pairs, you can use red fabrics in multiple blocks, but each block should contain a unique 4 fabric combination. You can use the same cream or low-volume fabric in all your blocks.
If you want to make your blocks extra scrappy (or you have smaller scraps), you can make a block like this one, made by Laurie (I think, or Peggy?) where the cream triangles are split and scrappy fabrics are used.
Tags and Categories
Add the tag Triangles to all your blog posts about this block.
The category should be blocks when you are posting photos of your blocks to enter them in the drawing; use the category sent and received when you are posting about mailing or receiving blocks; and the category show and tell to share projects you make from this block (whether they are lotto blocks or blocks you make for yourself.
The Virtual Quilt
I didn’t receive enough block photos for a virtual quilt, so here’s another pretty block made by Ginny.
Quilt Setting Ideas
There are two easy-peasy settings for using this block in a quilt.
The first quilt shows 48 blocks sewn together in a straight set (no sashing) with 4 1⁄2 inch, with a 2 1/4 inch inner border and a 4 1/2 inch outer border. This quilt would measure 67 by 85 inches.
The next quilt is made from 64 blocks blocks sewn together in a straight set, with the orientation of the block flipped in every other row to form diamonds. Without borders, this quilt would measure 72 inches square.
Sophie I love this luscious block!
