My Party House

My Party House

I finally had a chance to finish my house. I hate math so opted for appliqué. It was my first time trying it so I hand sewed the doors and windows on. Not too bad for my first try but my biggest challenge was getting the folds on the windows straight instead of slanted, also wasn’t totally sure what stitch to use around the edges. I’ll gladly accept any good tutorials / internet links. My sister is due with her first baby in...

Two Tall Ships

Two Tall Ships

It’s weird how life is merging with art at the moment. My husband, toddler and I launch our kayaks from a nearby sailboat marina. Recently I started rowing practice, same marina, twice a week. It’s fun watching the sailboats on the lake and this months block reminds me of them! I had just gotten off the lake when my phone made it’s usual whistle announcing the arrival of the sneak peak. Thank you Sophie for another fun block....

May Goose Block

May Goose Block

Finally got my May block done…..the colors have more of a yellow tint to them. I’ve been making a bunch of these for my husbands quilt (top part pictured below). Yep, the design wall is in a closet so it will be a little bit of a surprise. His birthday is in July so I’ve got a deadline to meet….this is it for me this month. Thank you Sophie for another great block. I LOVE this block! Helen Wahl, Nashville,...

One Lonely April Bird

One Lonely April Bird

I’m really glad that I received the sneak peak and sewed my block before April 1. On April 2, my husband woke up and found water throughout most of the house…..fortunately insurance is paying for clean up but we did have to move out because of this: Even though the only thing ruined were the floors and kitchen cabinets, we will be dealing with contractors for a couple more weeks so I probably won’t get to sew anymore. Thank...

Mother Daughter Project

Mother Daughter Project

My mother won block lotto in January and we’ve had a wonderful time together piecing the quilt with the winnings. I hope no one is offended….but since the inspiration for the quilt was tomatoes and limes and the pattern was Tall Fly, we’ve started calling the quilt ‘Tomato Flies’. Several of the blocks were smaller than they were supposed to be but with the stripes we were able to fool the eye into believing all...

One Heart on it’s way to Kathy

Dropped off the squishy at the post office this morning.  The clerk tried to convince me that it didn’t need a customs slip so off it went without….I really hope he’s right (and that it doesn’t delay or return the package to me). Looking forward to seeing your creation! Congratulations! Helen Wahl, Nashville, TN
