Starry blocks

Starry blocks

Here are my seven star blocks.  This was the first time in months that I had a stretch of time to sew, and it was good for the soul to play with the  made fabrics in the centres.  Karen N – Cape...

Only One Arrow

Only One Arrow

Only one block for the draw for now, and I really don’t think I’ll have time for more.  Yes, I know there are three in the picture!  I cut all of them out, and the first one made was the middle one and when I saw what I had done, I wasn’t unpicking!   Then the next two were chain pieced at the same time and I obviously wasn’t paying attention! But I quite like my two odd blocks. Karen N in Cape...

January blocks posted

My four January blocks are finally in the mail, just got back from the Post Office and the envelope will take 7-10 days from South Africa (I’m almost at the bottom end of the continent!)    And, as I am at work skiving off to write this post, and parcelled them up last night, I’ve momentarily forgotten to whom they were sent!   Karen N.

Four Double Nine Patches

Four Double Nine Patches

From Karen N  in a sweltering hot Cape Town!  I got carried away and used longer strips, so have one extra repeat block for myself, and lots of cute 3.5″ 9-patches, and also joined the rest of the first sub-cut units to make some small Seminole centres.  It was curious how many of my black and white prints had the same amount of black and white.  Thanks...

X blocks in mail

Today is a holiday in South Africa, so had time to parcel up my blocks for Elizabeth and Jen.  Will be taken to the post office on my way to work in the morning.   The postage seems to different every time I mail blocks, so I don’t take a chance by just putting stamps on envelope.   Cheers, Karen N from summer in Cape Town

Six blocks

Six blocks

Here are my six blocks for this month’s draw.  They were fun to  make at a time when I needed to sew something without too much stress.  I was really happy when I saw the size of the  squares and strips as I had exactly those sizes available in my tamed scraps, but although plenty of squares from which to choose, I was surprised that I only had enough in the black/white for three of them, all the other strips were too short. Oh darn, had...

Spokes block mailed

My solitary Spokes block was mailed to Ginny yesterday.  It’ll take about a week to arrive from the tail-end of Africa.  Karen in Cape Town.  Because there was only one block in the envelope the post office treated it as a letter, whereas normally with the thickness of three blocks it goes as a small parcel, and was pleasantly surprised to only pay about the third of the price for the postage!  Yay!
