My one spoke block

My one spoke block

Here is my one Spoke Block.  I cut three (and three to make for myself) but not sure will get the time to sew them before the dead-line!  The photo was, as usual, taken late at night, but I eventually ended up taking the photo on my ironing board, as it seemed to be the only place that the colours/colors were close to reality.  This size makes an interesting block.  Karen...

One Sunrise Block

One Sunrise Block

I I couldn’t get the templates to print to right size, it may be me, or it maybe that we have A4 paper as the standard here.   So had fun with a pair of compasses and a ruler!  The paper-based rays were straight forward and used far less fabric than I expected!  But using the 6-min method to put on the background chopped off half the points, so unpicked and decided to applique the curved sections, turned out fine.  But only one for...

April blocks in transit…

…to Peggy and Mariella.  They are late in the mail, sorry, but should be there in 7-10 days.  I belong to a monthly quilt group and I like to show them the blocks I’ve made, but I didn’t make them in time for our April meeting, and so kept them until this Saturday past.  From time to time someone in the group really likes the blocks and I direct them to the Lotto site, and they have made some blocks for themselves – I...

April blocks

April blocks

I made 20 blocks, but only seven made the grade!  These for donation.  In her instructions, Sophie mentioned possibly cutting the pieces big and then trimming, which worked fine – the central blocks were all perfect, but then I think my seam allowances were off and the remainder are too big, and so will just add to my growing pile of orphans!  Karen N...

Final March blocks are here

Final March blocks are here

In the past few days I received blocks from Mariella, Elizabeth C, Karen H and Maree – many thanks.  I love all your little notes and good wishes.  Elizabeth included some of her own beautiful hand-dyed fabrics, and a glorious printed fabric that I hope to use, perhaps as a border with these blocks, thank-you.  I couldn’t resist laying the blocks out and playing!  I think I like the on point arrangement best:     ...

Star chain arrival

I have contained my excitement about winning the March draw until now!  Yay, I am most fortunate!  The first star chain block arrived today from Dagmar in Germany, and it’s lovely, thank-you.  It was mailed it on the 3 April, taking eleven days to arrive – no more than usual!  Thanks from Karen in Cape Town, South Africa.
