Finally got around to finishing the blocks I had set fabric aside for – bringing me up to a total of nine (plus lots more for myself for another project). Lesson learned – the green and white block at lower left has too much white in it – looks a bit funny – but it might work in someone’s quilt if they had some more low-contrast fabrics. Also, realised I have very little lime/clear green in my stash –...

7 Tall Shooflies…

Although I still plan to make 2 more blocks this month, I thought I’d go ahead and post now, so I could be in time for the sneak peek…  These are so fun, I am making extras in parallel to make up a quick charity baby quilt...

An old block lotto win – finished!

An old block lotto win – finished!

I started playing the block lotto back in early 2006.  Shortly after I started, I won a set of blocks -black and white 10″ Scottie Dogs on lbue sky backgrounds.  This Christmas, I have FINALLY finished making a quilt from these blocks, and given it to my elder daughter as a Christmas present. It was well received.  I did have it longarm quilted, in this perfect pantograph…  I’m glad to say, I do get through some of my...

And four more makes nine

And four more makes nine

Here are four more blocks, bringing my total for the month to 9. Interesting thing about the lower left block (which I may replace if I have time) – when the fabrics were pulled, there was a lot more contrast between the dark and the middle colours. I think this is because the dark read as black with a bit of red when you saw it in a large piece, but cut up small like this, you really see the red in it. Anyway, it’s not my...

5 December blocks, so far…

I’ve made 5 blocks so far this month – I hope that I’ll have time to make 4 more (and have fabrics pulled, thanks to my 9YO for some help with that).  Thought I’d post today though, as I might still be in time for the sneak peek, for once!...

Three cups of coffee…

I had hoped to have time to make a whole shelf full of cups this month, but I only managed three. This is definitely a block I’ll make again, though, for...

Winner update!

Well ladies, after I drew the winners and notified them, I had an email back from Nann saying that as lovely as it is to win, she’d like for me to pick a different winner for her blocks, as she worries she might not use them and would rather they went to someone who was likely to do so (ok former winners, fess up – who still has a stack of lotto blocks waiting to be made into a quilt?).  Of course we can do this, so I have draw...

Congratulations to the October winners!

I know it’s only just barely 12 noon EST but as we will soon be inundated (perhaps) with trick-or-treaters, I thought I best get to this now.  (Actually, hang on, you guys haven’t changed your clocks yet, so it might be 1pm East Coast! Forgot about that…)   So, the three winners are…   no 91: Nann, who wins a set of 48 blocks no 60: Kathy S, who also wins a set of 48 blocks and no 18: Debra, who wins a set of...

Silly string

Silly string

I had originally intended to make more than three blocks this month, but with one thing and another, I just don’t think it’s going to happen, so I’m posting these now. I think you can see this in the photo, but in the top two blocks the third string is a different fabric – one is pink and one is red (the other two are the...

Quilted!

Quilted!

I’ve just had this quilt back from the longarmer last week – some of you will recognise these lotto blocks!  I haven’t yet had a chance to do the binding, but I will get to it this summer – though perhaps not in the next week or so as the forecast is for really warm weather and I’m not sure I want it on my lap if that’s true. It will be a wedding present for a  friend, if he ever sets a...
