After being gone to my daughter’s all week, I came home to a whole PO box full of birds, from Christa, Glenna, Julie P, Lori, Mary Beth, Melissa, Nann, Pat K, and Sophie.  They are all so beautiful, and I love all the cards and notes included too. ( I am pretty new to Block Lotto, and this is my first win.)   I am going to go buy some post cards to mail with my blocks, that is so fun!  My design wall is singing!

Sunday afternoon was the perfect time to take a “quilt break” and try out this month’s block.  I have seen the quilts using gray in the magazines and liked the look.  Really like the individual blocks, but not too excited about them in combination, so will donate my chances this month to somebody who will enjoy them...

One of the things I really appreciate about Sophie’s designs are that she knows the usefulness of scraps.  Here is a little quilt I made from the trimmings from this month’s string hearts.  The triangle squares are leftovers from another project, too.  It makes me think of the conversation candy hearts that are out for Valentine’s...

Here are my 9 blocks for February.  A word of warning to those who are still making this block – look before you sew the two halves together to make the heart, or your strings will point the wrong way (ask me how I know!)  Loved using up some of my seemingly bottomless basket of string scraps. I know these are supposed to be random strips, which they were as I was using scraps.  Sitting on the design wall, I notice that I seem to have...
