My sampler progress

My sampler progress

Here are 3 of the the 4 Star Chain blocks (February) I made for my sampler quilt. Unfortunately, I spilled a little coffee on the 4th one as I was getting ready to take the photo, and had to do a quick rinse job on it. It’s now out in the sun drying, and I hope will soon be as good as new. So I’ve got 3 of the 5 months done and I just noticed from Sophie’s diagram for the queen size sampler that I have enough to assemble some...

Do You Have Tips to Share?

I started making the Diagonal Bars blocks for my Mod-Mod Throw quilt, using the Rainbow Scraps Challenge color of the month: Green.  Here’s my first of eight blocks. A couple of quilters have emailed me about their problems with the block coming out the wrong size, so, as I made this block, I paid close attention at each step looking for answers for them. Technically speaking, when you put a 5 inch square (the finished size of the 5 bars...

Mod mod qal -Chevrons

(I tried using a CD for the template (just an experiment)…I know it is the wrong size but ,...

Pulling my hair

Pulling my hair

Sorry, quilters. Angie in...

Triangle Squares for My MOD QAL

Triangle Squares for My MOD QAL

And here are my nine blocks for the MOD QAL.  I’ve been making my blocks in complementary colors and fabric from my stash.  One of the oranges I used looks yellow so I wish I had used a little bolder orange but I don’t have many oranges to choose from and so they stay as they are. And then there was Method #4

And then there was Method #4

I was making blocks for my Mod-Mod Queen-size quilt, decided to use a striped fabric for some of the Flying Geese units .. and I decided I wanted the stripe to go the same way in all the blocks, which it wouldn’t if used the 4-at-once, no-waste technique in Method #1, or made them as half-square triangles as in Method #2.  At first I thought I’d paper-piece them (Method #3 in the block directions), but it just seemed a lot faster if...
