I have not made any January hearts yet, but I did finish my top using the 2016 blocks and Sophie’s Old MacDonald design. I was so excited to win these blocks the first month I joined Block Lotto, in January 2015.  Here is the finished top.

I made 9 pieced strings blocks for this month’s lotto but I didn’t stop there.  I alternated the strings with units for the Quiltville En Provence mystery — I’m not sure which were the leaders-and-enders.  I’m all caught up with the mystery units and 72 string blocks are now a flimsy (=unquilted top).  (54 x 66) I’m still going to participate in the lotto!

In late November, my mother, aunt, and I threw a baby shower for my little sister, who is due in January.  I knew I wanted to make her a baby quilt, and had even earmarked the Split 9-Patch blocks for it.  With my visiting mother-in-law minding her grandsons, I was able to make this quilt in three days, the week of the shower.  My sister got all weepy when she opened the package.  I don’t know why – I’d warned her I would be...

I have made two tops out of my Barn Door blocks and have a few to use on the back of the larger. I played with two different but similar settings- both on point- but one with and one without sashing.
