The deadline for the drawing–NOON Eastern Daylight Time in the US–has passed and I’m working on the list, which I will be sending on to Elizabeth to choose the winners. She expects to be home and picking winners in a couple hours from now, so if you have your fingers crossed for luck … you might want to loosen them up a bit so nothing goes numb 🙂

Here are three Diagonal Bar blocks I made for the drawing.  They were deceptively simple to make.  Deceptive because a 4 3/8 inch square just didn’t work for me even with the careful 1/4 inch seam allowance. Mine kept coming out to 7 1/4 rather than 7 1/2 inches.  With a bit more fabric to work with, say a 4.5 inch square, I was able to get the right sized...

My nine bars blocks for May.  I struggled a little with these, I think my seam allowances were off in the middle section, so re-did the last five on paper foundations but just the central bar portion so I could fit two on one page of paper.  For donation, not the draw.  Karen N in Cape...

I loved the inspiration quilt Sophie showed!  So I decided to try the bars block.  I got 7 blocks made.  I found them difficult to do accurately, although all the tips were a big help.  But I’m out of true blues now.  (I was surprised how few I actually owned!  Most of my blues have some turquoise or purple in them or are too dark.)
