The block for December was a 6-inch by 9-inch (finished size) Stripes block, made from 2 fabrics, white plus one of the quilter’s choice.   Helen made this one. Guidelines used for this month are here: Ending the Year With Stripes  37 quilters made 228 blocks which were divided among five quilters. I have a lovely jelly roll I got from Tuesday Morning and a nice coordinating batik that I realized would be beautiful made with the December block.  The strips are 2.5 inches and I don’t want to cut them down. By my calculations this gives me a block that finishes with a 12 inch finished height (12.5 unfinished). I suck at figuring out proportions, so would welcome suggestions on what width to cut. If you made and posted Stripes blocks and/or entered the Duds & Orphans lotto, you should have email from me with the mailing info for your blocks. There are separate messages for each type of blocks. Let me know ASAP if you didn’t receive the email or if you find errors on the info sheets.

I finally found some time to get these made.  I had a problem with the first one – the strip wasn’t cut that straight.  But I got these to work.  It is amazing that such a simple block can be so difficult to get right.   And sorry for such a dark photo – it’s a very grey and gloomy day here today.
