Just one

Just one

Helen told me that I needed to register my block or I don’t get the sneak peek. She keeps me on the right path. It would be nice to win since I would like to try another way of quilting it myself. Christa, happy in Virginia because it finally is...

4 to donate

4 to donate

I used method 2, which is pretty easy.  A couple of the white corners are a little “shy” so I will replace them before mailing.  I think the photo is a little over exposed, because the colors are a little brighter in person.  These are to donate.  (sorry about the 2 yellow prints together; I didn’t visualize how it would work together until I made the first one. Eight blocks for Kim H.

Eight blocks for Kim H.

Thanks Sophie for such a great pattern and springy colorways. Now if only I can win ;). I’ve been meaning to try the no-waste method for flying geese for quite a while and got to see a demonstration last weekend at the Brooklyn Guild’s quilt show (where I also saw the wife of our new Mayor). It turns out the “no waste” method is quite wasteful if you cut the fabric using the wrong dimensions! You’d think that as...

Pulling my hair

Pulling my hair

Sigh. For some reason I can’t seem to make these without losing the points (the last seam allowances around these are too small).  I checked my seams through each step and they were a scant 1/4″.  So here are three I am going to use in my Mod, Mod Quilt Along.  None from me for the drawing again. Sorry, quilters. Angie in...

Nine Triangle Squares

Nine Triangle Squares

Did a little research on “uplifting” colors for this month’s blocks since I really had no idea. Supposedly yellow is the most uplifting and orange is next.  I’m not so sure. Even the blocks without any yellow or orange look pretty uplifting to me especially since I’m not really crazy about yellow or orange. I used my companion and easy angle rulers to make the blocks. Cathy L in IA Sane, Crazy, Crumby...

April blocks

April blocks

It just dawned on me that I needed to post the April blocks I made during the Sneak Peek period.  You all have made such bright, cheery blocks!  My preferred method was the one where you make four flying geese from one block, then add HST. I’m proud to report my resulting blocks were the correct size!  Sophie, these are the ones I emailed you on March 29, so my count remains at 4 for the...

One Triangle Square

One Triangle Square

I have a personal policy to make sure I get the previous month block sent out before I let myself post the next months block. So I am really glad I made it to the post office before my toddler fell asleep in the car. LOVE this block and can’t wait to see what the winners make with them! I only made one because my son only took 1 nap and it wasn’t long enough for 2….maybe more will come. Thank you Sophie for another good one!...
