Sorry Butterfly
I love butterflies and I like paper piecing but not this block! Hope to find the time for more later in the...

Sorry for the dark photo, I guess that part of my yard is shadier than I realized. I made a prior quilt using Wonky Strip blocks and decided to make another. This time I made a few more blocks with juvenile fabrics before sashing it with white. I used some solid brown fabric for the binding leftover from the Snails Trails blocks last month. I quilted it with my walking foot in the hanging diamonds pattern. This one will go to Quilts for...

I had to laugh at Sophie’s color choices this month. I had just finished a large twin quilt out of purples, pinks, and blues. My daughter had asked me to make a quilt for her college roommate who loves the color purple. Then with the leftovers I made two charity quilts for the Quilts for Kids group so when these violet blocks were announced I had to do some deep digging in the stash! My three to enter for the drawing. I made these after...

Nine Snail’s Trails for me this month and I must say it was a struggle color-wise, as I lacked brown in my stash, and size-wise as I’m not a fan of 6-inch blocks! But I decided to challenge myself never having made this particular block before. They sure are cute and think a quilt made with Civil War reproductions would be really pretty. Also, sent out my Birds in the Air blocks to Andra, Cathy, and Erin yesterday. ~Hope you enjoy...

Received the final Wonky Strips today, thanks to Karen N., and also thanks to Margaret R and Rachel whose strips arrived in January. I am amazed at the variety of fabrics and the fact that I have none of the same ones in my stash. Thanks ladies!

Your Wonky blocks finally showed up today, Pat K. Apparently they were busy being chewed by the postal machines, or shall I say “inadvertently damaged in handling”. Looks like at one point the original envelope was also soaked in some yellow fluid. But, all’s well that ends well, the plastic bag saved the day! Thank you for sending them, and the extra fabric you sent, Batiks, no less! 🙂 Thank you to Ginny also, your...

I was just going to make six and after I had the same purple cut out I realized my mistake, all six would be the same. Ugh. Oh well, I continued onward and made those six plus four others that do follow the rules. Plus a leftovers block at the end to use up my bits and pieces. And that blue that looks really dark is not really that dark. So a total of eleven, all to donate to the pot. Hope that’s okay,...

Picture looks goofy for some reason but I wanted to share a quilt I made for the Quilts for Kids charity using some of my recently won Wonky Strip Blocks. I’ve been on a roll with making kids’ quilts ever since Thanksgiving. I had bought 4 yards of batting at Jo-Ann’s just for this purpose, and also to perfect machine sewn-on binding which I am now totally proficient at after making 12 donation quilts! This is my first...

I received wonky strips from Kathy S., Glenna, Su, Kristin S. and also from Robin W. Thank you! I think Robin’s blocks were supposed to go to Myrna instead of me. Myrna, I will get those mailed out to you tomorrow.

I’ve been out-of-town for the past week. I just wanted to let Maree, Laurina, Margaret, and Rachel know your blocks arrived sometime in my absence. Thank you! I am looking forward to the New Year and having more time to assemble them into a quilt. I love the variety of fabrics used. Thanks, Sophie. ~Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to...
